Joshua James Walker

Josh J. Walker, 41, of Plattsburgh, passed away, Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Plattsburgh on June 2, 1978, the son of John and Vicki (Trombly) Walker.
Josh graduated from Seton High School and continued his education at Plattsburgh State University where he received his Bachelors Degree. He enjoyed playing soccer and hockey at Seton High School and during his earlier years played hockey with the Roadrunners.
Josh was a hard worker with a multitude of talents, and had worked at Peabody's, and was a sales agent for Yellowbook, to name a few. However, during the last few years, he found his passion of working at Kneucraft Fine Jewelry in Plattsburgh. He served as manager for several years, and was proud and honored to be a part of the Kneucraft family.
He married the former Kerin O'Connell on May 26, 2007, at the Plattsburgh Air Force Base Chapel. Following the birth of their loving son Colin, Josh dedicated his life to his family and cherished every moment spent with them. He loved to go dirt bike riding with Colin and building anything they could think of with Legos. They enjoyed going camping, and Josh was dedicated to attending all of Colin's sporting events. He was also an avid NY Giants Fan.
Josh's perseverance during his battle with cancer was fueled by the love for his family and his numerous friends. His charismatic and charming personality will forever be missed by all those who knew him.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife Kerin Walker and their son, Colin Walker; his parents, John and Vicki Walker; his sisters, Jessica Walker and her companion Jud Studley and Johonna Walker and her companion Shawn Feeley; his father-in-law, James O'Connell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Beth Higgins, Maryanne Marks and her husband Todd, James O'Connell and his wife Angie, Erin Parks and her husband Ryan, and Danny O'Connell and his wife Wanda; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends, whom he considered family.
Josh was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Mavourneen O'Connell; and three uncles, Richard "Dick Walker, Troy Trombly, and Philip O'Connell.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 9th from 2 to 5 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the North Country Alliance Church, 7 Northern Avenue, Plattsburgh, celebrated by Pastor Jesse Brooks of the Plattsburgh House of Prayer, where Josh attended. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Chazy.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Josh's memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country or the FitzPatrick Cancer Center.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to the staff at the FitzPatrick Cancer Center and Hospice of the North Country for their countless hours of support and care they gave to Josh and all of his family. They will forever remember the guidance and compassion shown to them.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Josh’s family. I met him during our early careers at AT&T. He was always quick with a joke and could light up a room with his presence. A friend I will always think fondly of and miss dearly.

Dear John, Vicki, Kerin, and Colin
Pam Moser told me months ago about Josh--and I have been praying for him daily. It is so very difficult to lose a child, a husband, a father at such a young age and I will continue to keep you all in prayer. I know your strong faith will be your strength in these days ahead. Know that you are sincerely loved and remain in my love and prayers--In Jesus--Sister Cordata

I am so glad I got to spend some precious moments with Josh last week along with my brother Boone and the Breuder brothers. It was a very special high school reunion for all of us and Josh soldiered through it with the strength, humor, and grace that made him such a special person. He will be missed but the amazing family he leaves behind is a lasting testament of his love.
