John R. Braun John R. Braun, 84, of Beekmantown, passed away on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at his home with his loving family by his side, under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Plattsburgh on Jan. 14, 1934, the son of John B. and Catherine (Grigware) Braun.
John served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for NYSEG for 33 years, retiring as a Chief Lineman. He was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church, and later St. Peter's Church. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 20, and the VFW Post 125. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking or using his computer.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rita, and their children: Mary Boudreau and her husband Daniel of Peru, John Braun and his wife Marie of Plattsburgh, James Braun and his wife Regina of Chazy, Ann Hayes and her husband Glenn of Rhode Island, Joseph Braun and his wife Tammy of Chazy; his grandchildren: John, Amanda, Karen, Melaney, Garrison, Gabrielle, and Quinn.
He was predeceased by his parents, many aunts and uncles.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, Plattsburgh. Interment will follow in St. Mary's of the Lake Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
