Jeffrey B. Stewart


Jeffrey B. Stewart, 63, of Cortland, N.Y., passed away on July 9, 2019, at his home in Virgil.
Calling hours will be held at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, on Saturday, July 13, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Jeff was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to John Randall and Shirley Ryan Stewart on Feb. 7, 1956. He graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1974 and from SUNY Cortland in 1979. Jeffrey was a Probation Officer for Cortland County for 30 years retiring as a Senior Probation Officer in 2012.
Jeff was a member of the Cortland Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America for more than 20 years, serving as the chapter president for a number of those years. He was an avid Bowhunter and outdoorsman.
He is survived by his significant other of 33 years, Robin Chernow, daughter Rebecca (Brian Widmaier) Chernow and granddaughter Pearl. Jeff is also survived by his sisters, Denise (Don) Miller of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Maureen (Bill) Cronin of West Henrietta, N.Y., and Fay (Tim) Wagner of Virginia Beach, Va., and brother, Gerald Stewart of Auburn, Calif. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara and brother John (Randy) Stewart.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospicare, 172 East King Rd., Ithaca NY 14850. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Timothy Bael and the Hospice staff.
