Jean Marie Wyman died in her home on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, in Jay, N.Y. She was 90.
Jean was born Nov. 20, 1926, in New York City. She married Richard Wyman in 1946. The Wymans lived in New York and New Jersey where Jean devoted her time to church and family. The Wymans retired to the Adirondacks in the 1980s.
Jean was a Master Gardener. She was actively involved in the Lake Placid Garden Club and the Ausable Valley Garden Club where she held offices in both organizations.
Jean had a passionate interest in the arts and taught painting. She fostered creativity in others and was much loved by her students.
Her local church was a very important part of her life and she was a dedicated, active member.
Jean was known and loved for her extraordinary sense of humor, youthful energy, and her care for animals. She was an inspiration to everyone around her.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Vanderbeek and her son, Richard J. (Laura Crisp) Wyman. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Samantha (Jason) Fritz, Cara (Brian) Krupa, Katy Ells, Kirk (Kayce) Vanderbeek, Chloe Wyman, Reed Wyman and three great-grandchildren, Brielle Krupa, Hudson Fritz, Booker Vanderbeek, and her sister, Rochelle (Alfred) Grube.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard, her daughter, Deborah (Albert) Ells, and her brothers, Theodore Colton and Victor Colton.
A memorial will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, at the Whiteface Community United Methodist Church in Wilmington, N.Y. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jean's life. Memorial contributions may be made directly to the church.
