Jacqueline Hassam

Events

Jacqueline W.G. Hassam, 90, of Naples, Fla., and Plattsburgh, N.Y., passed away at her residence in Naples, Fla., on March 12, 2019, with loving family members at her side.
Jacqueline was born Jan. 4, 1929, in the Netherlands. She earned a degree in Physical Therapy and practiced in this profession while in the Netherlands and following that earned a Master's degree in foreign languages at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France.
Jacqueline was the personification of grace, kindness and family. The love and devotion she had in raising and caring for her five children, two grandchildren and being a loving wife to her husband for sixty-two years were unmatched and her proudest accomplishment. Family was everything to her. She had a special relationship with her husband, each and every one of her children and two grandchildren. She always put her family's needs ahead of her own.
As a wife and a mother she was a strong and compassionate woman. She throughout her life exhibited this exceptional strength and compassion as an example to her family. She was a beacon of light to all of us, radiating a spirit of kindness and warmth. Jacqueline had a passion for gardening and spent many hours outside tending to her flower gardens and sitting on the back deck by the lake enjoying their beauty. Our mother may have given us the gift of life, but life gave us the gift of her to us. Our mother has left behind for us footprints of kindness and love, courage and compassion as a trail for us to follow. We will miss her dearly.
Jacqueline is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Driss Hassam as well as five children, Soraya, Kareem, Khalil, Merwan and Driss along with two grandchildren, Alex and Gillian.
A family gathering will be held in her remembrance and honor.
