Howard P. Brelia


Howard P. Brelia, 89, of Pine Tree Drive, Keeseville, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh.
He was born in Plattsburgh, May 29, 1929, the son of Adolphus and Blanche (Stone) Brelia. Howard graduated from Keeseville High School in 1947. He served in the Army from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1956. He married the former Olive "Polly" Dubray, Aug. 28, 1954, at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora.
He is survived by his spouse; children, Amy (Bruce) Meighan of Mamaroneck, N.Y., Denise (Thomas) Hyland of Scotia, N.Y., and Keith (Holly) Brelia of Shalimar, Fla.; son-in-law, Dave Kachemov of Highland, Md.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings and their spouses, Barbara Rondeau, Marion Desotelle, and John (Betty) Brelia.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Michele Kachemov; sister, Martha Taylor; brothers-in-law, Bud Taylor, Albert Rondeau, and George Desotelle.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Church in Keeseville, with Rev. Kris C. Lauzon, parish priest, celebrating. Military honors will follow. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery.

Howard's family would like to offer a most sincere and very special "thank you" to all the staff and drivers at Third Age Adult Day Center (dementia) and Dr. Eustaquia, PA Brett Palmer, and all the R5 staff who provided excellent care with compassion.
