Herbert G. Wemette, 92, of Prospect Road, Keeseville, died Monday, July 24, 2017, at his home under the loving care of his wife and High Peaks Hospice of Essex County.
He was born in Port Kent, Jan. 30, 1925, the son of Frank M. and Mary (Marvin) Wemette. Herb served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for Francis Bezio and the AuSable Valley Telephone Company, both of Keeseville.
Herb was a member of the Chesterfield Fish and Game Club, a lifetime member of the Keeseville VFW Post 1505 and a former member of AuSable Forks American Legion. He enjoyed puzzles, fishing, hunting, target shooting, and flying his remote control plane.
Left to cherish the memory of Herb are, his loving wife of nearly 44 years, Brenda Wemette; four children, Danny, Jerry, Tammy, and Terry Wemette; two stepchildren, Colleen Cushing and Naomi Smith; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Helen, Syliva, and Francis.
There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, at St. Augustine's Church in Peru. A reception will follow at the Keeseville VFW.
