Hanford Charles "Charlie"/"Jack" Blanchard, 95, of the Rock Road, Peru, died Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with his loved ones by his side.
He was born in Plattsburgh, Feb. 13, 1922, the son of Charles and Effie (Rascoe) Blanchard. Charlie grew up in Plattsburgh and spent the majority of his youth in an orphanage. He moved to Peru and met his late wife, Ethel Annis. They spent 50 years together prior to her passing. In 1998 he met Ella Parent and they have been together since that time.
Charlie and his first wife adopted three children, Raymond, Linda, and Theresa. Sadly the three children all passed before him, as well as two grandchildren, Jonathan Waldron and Philip Annis.
Charlie worked at Peru Central School for 20 years prior to retiring at the age of 72. Earlier he worked several jobs including at the missel site and the Salvation Army, for many years.
He loved playing bingo, eating out, puzzles, and watching television. Charlie will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish the memory of Charlie are, his sister, Ida Dean; grandchildren, Marlene, Kristen, Christopher, Avery, and Heather; great-grandchildren, Theresa and Joana; longtime companion, Ella Parent; Ella's children, Lena and Henry Dashnaw, Joyce and Tom Wood, and Kathy and Dean Pescia; and Ella's many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be no public calling hours or services. Entombment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Whispering Maples Memorial Mausoleum, Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh.
