She played the organ at the Moriah Baptist Church. As a member of the Westport Federated Church she taught Sunday School, directed the junior choir and sang in the choir for many years.
She was also an active member of the Order of Eastern Stars, Rebekah Lodge, Wadhams Grange and Republican Women. She served as President of the local American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She will be rememberd for the years of dedication to the Westport Memorial Day service honoring our Veterans.

Surviving loved ones are her four children and spouses, Sandra McQueen, Brenda (Bill) LaHendro, Irving (Cheryl) Mauran and Derinda (Sam) Sherman; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

My wife, Diane, and I were married in Rennselaer, NY on June 16th, 1979. Aunt Gladys and Uncle Irving were the only family members other than my parents, sister Derianne, and Jeremy, who was Ring Bearer to attend the wedding. Aunt Gladys earned a very special place in my heart at that time, as well as being the most kind and compassionate person I have ever known. Thank you Aunt Gladys for having been there, and will always treasure your memory in my life.
