George Ernest Miller It is with great sadness that the family of George E. Miller announces his passing after a brief illness, on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at the age of 86. Mr. Miller was born in Elmira, N.Y. on Sept. 15, 1932, the son of Harry E. and Myrtle Palmer Miller.
He is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife and best friend of 65 years, Theresa; and his children, Joanne (Jim) Ullery, Patricia (yVayne) Fitchett, Carol (Daniel) Rock, William Miller ,Nancy (Paul) Maier; and his sister, Harriet (Jack) McCormack. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
George was a Business and French teacher in the Northeastern Clinton Central School District in Champlain, N.Y. where he worked for 31 years. While teaching, he also worked part time for 27 years as an Immigration Inspector for the U.S. Immigration Service in Champlain, N.Y.
Mr. Miller was a lifetime member of the Benevolent Order of the Elks and an usher at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Fort Myers, Fla. He was an avid WWII history buff and amassed a large collection of WW II memorabilia. Upon retirement, he and Theresa traveled extensively around the world. In recent years, he loved to ride his bike daily throughout the Lake Arrowhead neighborhood that he loved so dearly. He brightened the day of everyone he met with a smile and a wave. His personal ministry was to send greeting cards to his park friends for special occasions. He supported many worthy causes that were near to his heart, especially religious organizations and those which help children. He had an incredible sense of humor and was a prolific story teller.
A celebration of George's life was held at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Fort Myers, Fla.
Memorial donations in memory of George E. Miller may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Fla. or St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Fort Myers, Fla.
