George C. Betters, 77, of Rexford, N.Y., after a long illness lost his battle with COPD on March 16, 2019. George was raised in Au Sable Forks, N.Y., and moved to the Capital District after his marriage. He retired from Bilinsky Meat Co. in 1991. George was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to camp and make jokes with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jackie (Dinelle) Betters and three children, Mark of Mechanicville, Geoffrey (Colleen) of Horseheads, and Patricia Pittman (Tom) of Schuylerville. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Christopher (Kaitlyn), Rachel (Matt) Rivers, Courtney and Zachary; six great-grandchildren, Ronald, Alexia, Sophia, Wyatt, Beau and Deangelo. George also leaves behind one sister, Nancy Bombard and many nieces and nephews.
George was predeceased by a son, Christopher, his parents, Levi and Mary (Irwin) Betters, five brothers, Clarence, Levi, Donald, Charles and James, six sisters, Dorothy Gero, Evelyn Senecal, Kathleen Seguin, Helen Rhino, Joan Snow and Mary Goyette, all of Au Sable Forks.
A memorial service for George will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church, 10 Church Lane, Au Sable Forks, N.Y., at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5th.
A celebration of George's life will be held at the American Legion on McCray Street in Au Sable Forks immediately following the service.
