Florence Malrose (Williams) Denton, 97, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Fla.
Florence was born in Wilmington, N.Y. on May 30, 1920, daughter of Burt R. and Lila Banker Williams.
She married Charles L. Denton on Oct. 16, 1938. They had one son, Robert E. Denton and one daughter, Cheryl Denton Bushy.
Florence left school as a teenager to take care of her sick mother. Throughout her long life, Florence continued her caring attitude. She loved to knit and quilt. Almost everyone in her large extended family received a quilt or afghan as a gift from "Flossie".
Florence and her husband built their house on Haselton Road in Wilmington, where she lived for over 50 years until she moved to Lakeland, Fla. in 2014. Flossie loved taking care of her home and flower gardens.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Chery Bushy and husband, Alan of Lakeland, Fla.; one grandson, Keith Bushy and his wife, Kimberly of Palatka, Fla.; one great grandson, Taylor Denton Bushy and his wife, Courtnee of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; two sisters, Joyce Peck of Jay, N.Y. and Laura Roe of Sloansville, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; her son, Robert; five brothers, Raymond, Paul, Malcolm, Bert, and Merritt; two sisters, Beatrice Green and Alma Lawrence.
Calling hours and services will be at the Twaits Zaumetzer Funeral Home in Ausable Forks, NY on Thursday, Feb. 22. Calling hour is from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. A service will follow at 1 p.m. and burial will be in the Haselton Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Pour Man's Tap House in Wilmington, NY.
