Flora's Story

Text size

Flora Scott Farrell of Meredith, N.H., and formerly of Mineville and Queensbury, N.Y., passed away suddenly on the evening of May 3, 2017. She was born on Aug. 28, 1922, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., to parents Henry and Nellie Cooper Scott. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick F. Farrell in 1996, and siblings Thomas C. Scott of Moriah and Mary Scott Tobin of Ticonderoga. She is survived by her children, Susan Farrell Bouchard of Rochester, N.Y., John Farrell (Linda) of Belmont, N.H., grandchildren Deborah Bouchard (Sean Street), James Bouchard (Inge), Michelle Farrell Bootz (Henrik), Wendy Farrell Crusberg (Nils) and three great-grandchildren: Patrick and Fredrick Bootz, and Amelia Crusberg; nephews and nieces.
After graduation from Ticonderoga High School and Albany Business School, Flora worked in the office of Republic Steel Corporation in Mineville where she met her husband and made many lifelong friends in the community. During retirement, she and Patrick traveled to Ireland, the British Isles and Europe and spent many winters in Florida. Her favorite pastime was a competitive game of bridge; she had earned Life Master and was just a few points short of Bronze Life Master when she retired from the game. An avid reader, Flora continued to look forward to the challenge of a daily crossword puzzle.
To honor her request, there will be no calling hours and funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are through the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. The family is very grateful to the staff at Forestview Manor in Meredith, N.H., who provided Flora with excellent care and enjoyment in her last four years.
