Fausta (Stangoni) McMartin, age 92, of Largo, Fla., passed away Nov. 15, 2017. She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., May 8, 1925, to Serafino Stangoni and Igina (Panichi). She was a graduate of Plattsburgh High School and went on to earn a B.S Degree in Home Economics at Plattsburgh State Teachers College. She was married to William R. McMartin on Feb. 5, 1949. After spending many winters on Indian Rocks Beach, Fla., she moved to Florida permanently in 2009. Fausta enjoyed walking on the beach, collecting shells, water aerobics and spending time with family.
With a longtime family history in the Plattsburgh area, her father, Serafino Stangoni took over ownership of the family business, Lombardoni Fruit Company, which he ran until his untimely death on Sept. 13, 1944. Fausta and William McMartin also co-owned Jerry Donnelly Ltd., 7 Clinton Street, Plattsburgh, N.Y., with Jerry Donnelly and his wife Jane (McMartin).
Fausta McMartin is predeceased by her husband of 37 years, William McMartin, son James McMartin and brother Carlo Stangoni. She is survived by her son William McMartin and wife, Ann (Fitzpatrick) of Asheville, N.C., son John McMartin and wife Madeline (McCauley) of Largo, Fla., granddaughter Katherine Tovar (daughter of William), grandson, Cooper McMartin (son of John and Madeline) and two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Ava Tovar.
In following her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Her family will have a private celebration of life in her honor.
