Eunice A. Layman, 90, of Tom Miller Road and formerly of Layman Lane, Cumberland Head, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017, at her home.
She was born in Greenville, Maine, on March 3, 1927, the daughter of Hugh and Sarah (Jardine) Graham.
Eunice attended and graduated from Becker Junior College in Boston. She went on to met her husband, Arthur L. Layman Jr., while working at Harris Drug Store in Greenville, Maine, and they later married at Union Church in Greenville. They later moved to Plattsburgh in 1960.
Eunice was the first secretary for the Battle of Plattsburgh Celebration in 1962, she was an Order of the Eastern Star Member, and a member of the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church. Eunice spent her life helping others and her kindness and generosity will be greatly missed.
During her younger years, Eunice worked as professional secretary at MIT during World War II. Following their move to Plattsburgh, she began working as a personal secretary for the District Attorney's Office for over 22 years. Eunice then went to work at the Clinton County Court where she was a court attendant.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Bradrick of San Jose, Calif., and Lynne Layman of Plattsburgh; two sons, Arthur L. Layman III of Beekmantown and Graham Layman of West Chazy; four grandchildren, Jackie and Jenny Braderick, Saneun McHaley-Foley and Ryelyn McKay; five great-grandchildren, Shelby, Asher, Evelyn, Hazel and Sheamus.
She was predeceased by her husband, two brothers, Albert "Ab" Graham and Gary Graham and one sister, Norma Colvard.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
