Elizabeth A. "Betty" LaJoy, 83, of Plattsburgh , N.Y., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at Meadowbrook Health Care Facility. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on Jan. 26, 1934, the daughter of Vernon and Katherine (Davis) McBride.
Betty enjoyed being outdoors, bird-watching, fishing, and camping. She was an avid card player. She and her husband loved to travel in their camper, traveling and sight-seeing. She will be missed for her out-going personality, and sense of humor.
She is predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Ellsworth Lashway; and her brother, Robert McBride.
Betty is survived by her husband, Arthur LaJoy; her children, Vern Lashway of Plattsburgh, Debbie Carpenter and her husband Larry of Morrisonville; her granddaughter, Melissa Erickson of Morrisonville; her grandson, Ben Laundry of Plattsburgh; a great-grandson, Leo Erickson; her stepchildren, Sherry Long, Thomas LaJoy and his wife Ania, Judy Varno and her husband Mark; and her step-grandchildren, Andrew and Alex LaJoy.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 from 3 to 6 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 6 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at a later day in Riverside Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's memory may be made to the Elmore SPCA.
