Eleanor R. Grant (nee Baxter) was called from this life on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. She passed peacefully at her home in Yardley, Pa., with her children by her side.
Eleanor was born and raised in Port Henry, N.Y. Upon graduating from high school, Class of 1955, she moved to Washington, D.C. where she started a family and worked for the FBI and the National Education Association.
A long time resident of Lower Makefield Township, Eleanor worked for the Township Police Department for the past four decades. She took much pride in her duties, but her greatest joy came from the many relationships she forged over the years with so many department officers and staff.
Eleanor is the beloved wife of 58 years to the late Harold R., who died on March 16, 2017.
She is survived by her loving children, Michael J. Grant (Celeste), Karen E. Taddei (Edward), Linda M. Stitt (Jeff) and Rita A. Jenkins (late Troy).
Eleanor is the devoted grandmother of Harold Grant II (Ashley), Amanda Bennett (David), Michael J. Grant Jr. (Gwen), Liz Taddei, Benjamin Grant, Emily Taddei, Christopher Grant, Jeffrey Stitt Jr., Eddie Taddei III, Jocelyn and Olivia Jenkins; proud great-grandmother of Carter and Charlotte Grant; dear sister of Dorothy Wilber; and aunt to Cynthia Wilber, Roger and Randy Baxter.
Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, at Saint Ignatius Church, 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, where she was a devoted long time parishioner. Interment will be held privately.
