Edwidge "Didge"'s Story
Edwidge ("Didge") Pelletier O'Donnell passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2017, at the age of 85, in McLean, Va. She was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine, the daughter of William and Angeline Hope (Poitras) Pelletier.
After graduating from Fort Fairfield High School, Didge worked for FDIC in Fort Fairfield until her wedding in 1957. She and John lived in Doylestown, Pa.; Decatur, Ill.; Texarkana and Dallas, Texas; Falls Church, Va.; Peru, N.Y.; Gaithersburg, Md.; and McLean, Va. Didge was a devoted mother who volunteered, worked for various businesses, and was a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant for 20 years. She loved to sew, knit, reupholster, and spend countless hours in the garden. She enjoyed years in the Plattsburgh bowling league, and she and John golfed often in retirement.
For 60 years, Didge was the devoted and beloved wife of John J. O'Donnell, and is survived by husband John and their four children - Bruce O'Donnell (Lusby, Md.), Daniel O'Donnell (Orlando, Fla.), Denise Todd (Fairfax, Va.), and Kevin O'Donnell (Alexandria, Va.), daughter-in-law Linda Foley O'Donnell and son-in-law Christopher Todd, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, her sister, Sr. Theresa Pelletier (Waterville, Maine), and brother Richard Pelletier (Fort Fairfield). She was predeceased by her sister, Winifred ("Winnie") Gorman (Fort Fairfield, Maine).
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 8601 Wolftrap Road, Vienna, VA 22182.
