Edward R. Dragoon, 90, of Lake Shore Rd., passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Nov. 24, 1927 in Chazy, the son of Ralph and Audrey (Pombrio) Dragoon.
Ed graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1944 and Clarkson University in 1949. He married Lucille Budlong in Utica, N.Y. on June 21, 1952. He started his career in Chemical Engineering at Ayerst Laboratories in Rouse Point. He held various positions during his 39 year career there, where he was eventually promoted to VP of Engineering before retiring in 1988.
Ed was an active member of the community. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy, and in later years attended Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Ed was a past Board member of Hospice of the North Country and former President of the Chazy Central Rural School Board.
Survivors include his children, Thomas Dragoon of Napierville, Quebec, Jan Haughey of Canton, Mass., Jo Morse of Chazy, Helen Dragoon of Watertown, Mass.; six grandchildren; his siblings, Gordon Dragoon, Lillian Kiernan, Ann Duffina, Kay Olin, and Linda Mason; along with several nieces and nephews.
Ed was predeceased by his wife of nearly 65 years, Lucille, their son, James Dragoon; and grandson, Mark Dragoon.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, Jan. 5th from 4 to 7 pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of the North Country or the CCRS Education Foundation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 am at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Burial will be in the spring in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
