Dr. Edmond's Story

Dr. Edmond C. (Ted) McLane, 85, of McLane Way, passed away Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lake Placid on June 22, 1932, the son of Frederick C. and Louise (Campbell) McLane.
Edmond graduated from Paul Smith's College where he received his Associates Degree in Forestry. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Buffalo. After graduation he received a teaching fellowship at the University. On completion of his fellowship he was appointed for residency in Oral Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center's Strong Memorial Hospital and completed additional study at Boston University's School of Stomatology.
Dr. McLane operated his own practice in Plattsburgh for nearly 60 years as an Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon. He was a devoted surgeon who cared about all of his patients.
Edmond married Geraldine Matuszak on June 2, 1962, in Elmira, N.Y.
He enjoyed spending time skiing, cultivating his apple orchards, and flying airplanes. His love of being a pilot was shared with his father, who founded the Lake Placid airport. Most of all was his love for his family.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Geraldine McLane of Morrisonville; five children, W. Gregory (and Leslie) McLane of Avon, Conn., Julia McLane of Oley, Pa., Jefferey (and Kristin) McLane of Cincinnati, Ohio, Maribeth (and Neil) Harrigan of Clemons, N.C., and Matthew (and Aimee) McLane of Morrisonville; two sisters, Patsy (and James) Hardman, and Frances (and Michael) Doyle; sister-in-law, Rosemary Fredericks; brother-in-law, Edward Marona; grandchildren, Kelly McLane, Devon McLane, Lyons Canino, William McLane, Katie McLane, Bridy Harrigan, Hailey Harrigan, Emily McLane, and Shawn McLane; and several nieces and nephews. Edmond was predeceased by one brother, William Gregory McLane and one sister, Elizabeth Marona.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Hospice or St. Alexander's Church Building Fund.
