Douglas A. "Doug" Decker, 59, of Route 374 passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at his home. He was born in Marlboro, N.Y., on June 24, 1958, the son of Douglas and Lena (Tompkins) Gabriel.
Doug was married on May 21, 2005, to Laura (Lobis Baker). He attended Marlboro High School and after moving to the North Country worked for Steve E. Fuller Excavating in Keeseville.
Doug loved cars and anything to do with cars. He often went to Airborne Raceway cheering on Branham Racing and especially loved going to drift competitions in Canada and cheering on his son-in-law for Patinka Motorsports. He was a member of the North Country Classic Car Club.
Doug is survived by his wife Laura of Cadyville, his son Willy and companion Cassie, daughter Cynthia Patinka and husband Bob, daughter-in-law Denise, his stepchildren, Michael Baker and companion Heather, Matt Baker and companion Pete, Jimmy Baker and wife Aimee, Jessica Morris and husband TJ and Ben. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Serena, Desiree, Deanna, Chloe, Natalie, Destiny, Keegan, Zaiden, and Tyler. His nephews Harry and Mikey were like his own children to him. He is also survived by his brother Harry, his sister Tricia and nieces and nephews, Bethany, Sarah, J.J. and Heather. He leaves behind his best friend Ben "Hooney" Sprague and his dogs Kia and Charley. ,
He was predeceased by his parents and his son Dougie.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 pm. on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Peaseleeville Cemetery.
