Dorothy Kathryn Woods, 96, formerly of Churubusco, died Saturday, April 20, 2019, at the Clinton County Nursing Home, Plattsburgh.
Born on Feb. 15, 1923, in Churubusco, N.Y., she was the daughter of James E. and Mary M. (Franklin) Lagree.
She was married to Ernest J. Woods on Oct. 16, 1946 in St. Philomena's Church, Churubusco. He predeceased her on Nov. 10, 2009.
Mrs. Woods graduated from Chateaugay Central School with the Class of 1943. She and her husband operated the family farm for many years. She was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Churubusco. She was a quilt maker, the family photographer, and an excellent cook. She loved country music and especially driving her golf cart.
She is survived by four children, Peggy and Dwight Duncan of Katy, Texas, Anna Mae Woods and her companion, Tom Silver of Ellenburg, Kay Woods of Plattsburgh, James and Elaine Woods of Cadyville; three grandchildren, Mitchell Duncan and his wife, Andrea of Katy, Texas, Doug Miller of Ellenburg, Ashley Harron of Plattsburgh; two great-grandchildren, Brady and Katie Duncan; a great-great-granddaughter, Blaire Duncan; an aunt, Virginia Lagree of Plattsburgh; a brother-in-law, Allan Franklin of Burke; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; three sisters, Evelyn Watson, Anna Gooley and Hazel Fortier; and a son-in-law, John C. Harron.
Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel at 12 p.m.
Entombment will take place at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens, Ellenburg Depot.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Churubusco Fire Dept.
