Doris Lyon Schilling, age 90, of Sarasota, Fla., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018. She was born April 13, 1927 in Plattsburgh, N. Y. to the late Myron I. and Katherine F. (Phair) Lyon.
She graduated from St. John's Academy in 1945 and married John O. Schilling in 1949. She was employed as a secretary for the Plattsburgh City School District for over twenty years, retiring in 1985 when she moved to Sarasota.
She enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles, keeping abreast of the news, and most importantly spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1975; and granddaughter, Courtney, in 2009.
She is survived by four children; sons, Karl (Francie), and John (Joanne) of Reston, Va.; daughters, Carol of Berea, Ky., and Cathy Putnick (Mark) of Ashburn, Va.; her sister, Jane L. Moloney of Sarasota, Fla.; three grandchildren, Joseph of Richmond, Va., Kaitlyn and Stephen Putnick of Ashburn, Va.; two nephews, Mark and Christopher; and a niece, Candace. She is also survived by two special friends in Sarasota, Frank Cubalchini and Millie Ericson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted in Reston, Va. in April. A Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh, N.Y. with inurnment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in the Spring of 2018.
