Doris M Galarneau Doris M. (Seymour) Hance-Galarneau, 93, formerly of Burlington, Vt., went home to her Lord on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018. She was born in Burlington on July 3, 1924, the daughter of Louis W. and Ethel M. (Proulx) Seymour. She graduated from Burlington High School, Class of 1942 and was a "Rosie Riveter" building F4U Corsair planes in Connecticut during WWII. She married Arthur Hance on Sept. 21, 1945, and together they raised six children. She graduated from Fanny Allen School of Nursing and was an LPN at Fanny Allen Hospital. She married Earl Galarneau on Dec. 7, 1974, and they lived in Keesville, N.Y. He predeceased her on June 17, 2008. She was a secretary and treasurer of the VFW auxiliaries in both Burlington and Keesville. She was active at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keesville as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. She also was a sales lady for Avon and Tupperware. Doris leaves her children and spouses: Arthur III and Maxine Hance of Hollywood, S.C., Marie Hence-Viloria and Richard of San Diego, Calif., Linda Chartrand of Colchester, Vt., Theresa Bell of Duxbury, Vt., and James Hance and fiancee, Holly Companion of Keeseville, N.Y.; 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her only sibling, Leon Seymour, her son, Robert Hance, two grandsons and three sons-in-law: William Supernor, John Shartrand and Richard Sears. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph Co-Cathedral, Burlington, on Friday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Visiting hours will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Elmwood-Meunier Funeral Home, 97 Elmwood Ave., Burlington.
