Donald's Story

Donald G. Thibault, 86, passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 25, 2018. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Sept. 29, 1931, the son of Donald and Elizabeth (McElwee) Thibault.
Donald Served four years in the U.S. Navy. After serving, he began a 25-year career at Plattsburgh Quarries, serving as President and General Manager. From there he proceeded to Saudi Arabia, where he was hired to open a brick manufacturing plant. He next traveled to Florida to work at Florida Rock, where he assumed the role of manager. Lastly he worked at Stabler Industries in Pennsylvania, where he was responsible for overseeing statewide mining operations.
His community involvement included memberships in The Elks Club Lodge 621, Chamber of Commerce of Plattsburgh, The Chazy American Legion, and volunteering at the hospital.
Donald enjoyed travel and meeting new people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone in any setting. He also enjoyed helping people.
He is predeceased by his younger sister, Jacqueline Davis (Thibault) and son, Daniel Thibault.
Donald is survived by his wife, Ann (Tompkins) Thibault of 62 years, his son Robert and wife Pamela (Jessica and Ali Thibault), daughter Kathleen and Richard Barnes (James (Michele) and Thomas (Rebecca) Barnes), son Thomas (Danielle) (Joshua Bechard), Katie, Thomas, and Olivia), daughter Donna and husband Stephen Pratt (Anthony and Timothy Oliver), daughter Michele and husband Kevin Peryer (Benjamin (Justin Smith) and Adam Peryer), and daughter-in-law Susan Thibault (Spencer and David Thibault), and four great-granddaughters, (Lindsay, Ashley, Zoey, and Mia).
Calling hours will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 29, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy.
Donations in his name can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
