Donald C. Thew, 85, of the Bear Swamp Road, Peru, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at his home under the loving care of his sons and Hospice of the North Country.
He was born in Lake Placid on April 19, 1932, the son of Walter and Lena (Davis) Thew. Don grew up in Lake Placid and graduated from Lake Placid High School.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1955.
He was a 60 year member of the International Union Of Operating Engineers. Don was also a member of local American Legions and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a respected member of the local community and loved by his family and close friends.
Left to cherish the memory of Don are, his sons, Aaron and Greg Thew.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Catherine (MacDonald) Thew; and a brother, Charlie Thew.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in St. Augustine's Cemetery in Peru.
