Donald H. "Donnie" Provost Jr., 82, of the Reservoir Road, Peru, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, at his home under the loving care of his wife and Hospice of the North Country due to a rare muscle disease.
He was born in Plattsburgh on March 18, 1937, the son of Donald and Alberta (Provost) Prevost Sr.
Donnie retired from Peru Central School as a Bus Driver after 25 years of service. He also ran his own sawmill and wood business for many years.
He was a good, honest and hard working man throughout all of his life. Donnie was truly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie; two children, Julie Jacob of New Mexico, and Stephanie (Rodney) Leis of Kentucky; three grandchildren, Andrew, Joshua and Ryan Leis; one great-grandchild, Corbin Leis; two sisters, Gail (John) Lawliss of Peru, and Diane Irwin of North Carolina; as well several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two of his children, Patti and Jeffrey Provost; and his mother-in-law.
At Donnie's request there will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church, 3035 Main Street, Peru, with the Rev. Alan D. Shnob celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Donald H. Provost Jr. may be made for a Mass in care of St. Augustine's Church, Peru.

Always enjoyed visiting dad and mom. Im glad i told him that " I couldn't have asked for a better father in law" the last time i saw him. He will be missed by all.

Don was a wonderful man. My father and I Phil Gebo bought lumber from Don for many years. Always so quick to help. I know he will be leaving wonderful memories behind for his family to remember.
