Donald Neal Muzzy was born on July 5, 1946, in Jay, N.Y., to Bernard and Gloria Muzzy. He passed away at the Uihlen Mercy Center at the age of 71 on July 31, 2017.
Donald Grew up with his three brothers and two sisters in his beloved Adirondacks. After attending AuSable Forks School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1964. After his honorable discharge, he received his Commercial Driver's License and drove tractor trailer for multiple companies; hauling across every state in the U.S. and Canada. He married Mary-Ellen Hart on Feb. 12, 1967. Don was an expert marksman and an avid outdoorsman. He was a loving family man and an admired mentor. His presence will be sorely missed and he will always be in our thoughts and hearts.
His survivors include his wife, Mary-Ellen Muzzy; two sons, Michael and his wife Gidget, Bernard and his wife Stacy and his daughter Metta Douglas and her husband Kirk. He is also survived by his sister, Diana, two brothers, Dennis and David, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his mother and his brother Douglas and his sister Dora.
A graveside ceremony with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Fairview Cemetery. All family and friends are welcome.
