Debra J. Cumber, 62, of Rolling Mill Hill Road, AuSable Forks, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Keene Valley, Feb. 19, 1955, the daughter of Thomas and Joyce (Rhino) Hathaway. She grew up in Jay and attended AuSable Forks High School. Debbie worked in the cafeteria at AuSable Valley Central School for several years; a job she enjoyed and took great pride in.
Debbie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bowling, fishing, hunting, boating, and camping, and especially loved to play the slots at the casino.
Left to cherish the memory of Debra are, her loving husband of 46 years, Martin L. Cumber Sr., whom she married July 17, 1971, at the Clintonville United Methodist Church; children, Marty Cumber and wife Tammy, and Edward Cumber and his companion, Brandy; grandchildren, Derrick, Julie, Nicholas, Craig, Zachary, Zena, Madisyn, Edward, and Lyla; great-granddaughter, little princess, Paisleigh Grace; sister, Kathryn Cooper and her husband, Tom; brother, Thomas Hathaway; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful canine companion, Sweetie.
In addtion to her parents, she was predeceased by her parents-in-law, Arthur and Irene Cumber; and canine companion, Pita.
Calling hours will be private and at the convenience of the family. Committal prayers and burial will be held Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at 1 p.m. in the Riverview Cemetery in Clintonville.
Donations in her memory may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh.
