David A LaTray, formerly of Bombay, N.Y., passed away Sept. 26, 2017, after a lengthy illness at Newton Medical Center in New Jersey with his son Ronald by his side. David was predeceased by his parents, Neva and Adrian LaTray of Bombay, N.Y., a sister, Judith Fountain of Moira, N.Y., and a brother, Gerald LaTreille of Bombay. He is survived by four children: Ronald LaTray, Sarah L. Lashomb, Scott LaTray of Massena, N.Y., and Jason LaTray of Norfolk, N.Y. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Heading of Virginia and brother, Randy LaTray of Florida, a granddaughter, Cecilie, and several nieces and nephews.
David was raised on a dairy farm. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in the 1970s until he returned in 1977, spending 29 years in Massena until he retired. David loved being outside gardening, most noted his gigantic pumpkins he grew. He loved going on fishing trips while camping at Lake Meacham, catching many perch. He liked practical jokes as well. David was noted for being a hard worker by many who knew him. He also loved his country and the freedoms that it has. There will be no calling hours but there will be a ceremony at a future date at the request of immediate family. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home.
