Danny Boyer was born on June 17, 1945, in Malone, N.Y., to Richard Boyer and Louvilla (Avery) Boyer. After several years of facing numerous health challenges, Danny succumbed to his final battle and slipped away peacefully and without pain at the age of 72 on July 9, 2017, with his wife and eldest son by his side, under the compassionate care of Hope Hospice of Cape Coral, Fla.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Barbara (nee LaBelle) of N. Ft. Myers, Fla., and Alburgh, Vt. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his four sons, Dan Boyer Jr. of Rouses Point, N.Y., Ronnie (Lisa) Boyer of Rouses Point, N.Y., Bruce (Jenna) Boyer of Cadyville, N.Y., Brian (Angela) Boyer of Morrisonvile, N.Y., and three stepchildren, Melissa Alexander of Cadyville, N.Y., Randall Racine of Blue Rock, Ohio, and Jason (Jennifer) Racine of Mooers, N.Y. Susan LaDuke, Danny's former wife and mother of his children, also survives him. He leaves behind seven grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren, all who will miss their Grandpa.
He is survived by his siblings, Mary Anne Mitchell of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Linda LaFountain of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Dorothy Meyer of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Terry (Donald) Harrington of Pinellas Park, Fla., Robin Winterbottom of West Chazy, N.Y., Theodore (Donna) Supernaw of West Chazy, N.Y., and Donald Supernaw of Marlboro, Mass. Several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins are left behind to miss Danny and share memories of their beloved brother-in-law, uncle and cousin.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Theodore Supernaw, his brother, Richard Boyer, his sister, Diane Griffin and his mother and father-in-law, M. Frances and William LaBelle Sr.
As a young father, Danny worked several jobs, to include Chazy Orchards, Railway Express and Georgia Pacific before retiring in February of 2004 as a maintenance foreman with 36 years of employment at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Rouses Point, N.Y. He and his family also operated Dannies Pub in Rouses Point, leasing the bar business for six years from American Legion Post 912 in the early 1990s.
Danny was an avid reader and could never get used to a NOOK, preferring a good solid book in his hands. He was a dedicated fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants, although you would wonder at times by the way he would swear at them. He, for a time, coached peewee hockey and his NHL team of choice was the Montreal Canadiens. Yes, he would swear at them, too!
He loved having our "blended" family and friends around him, the more the merrier. Which often meant that his wife Barb went scrambling to pull together a spur-of-the-moment BBQ at the lake! His unique personality and generosity will not soon be forgotten by family and anyone with the good fortune to have known him and called him "Friend." He was a wonderful husband, family man and friend to all. He will be missed.
Per his request, there will be no wake or funeral services. His wishes were to have a Celebration of Life for family and friends in his memory. This casual celebration will be hosted by his family at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 600 St. John Rd., Champlain, NY 12919.
