Cindy L. Thomas, 60, of Forge Street, Au Sable Forks, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, at her home under the loving care of her family.
She was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 18, 1958, the daughter of Nelson and Sandra (Santor) Ano.
Cindy held many positions over the years at Land of Make Believe, Santa's Workshop, Olympics in 1980, Blue Bowl Restaurant, Koffee Kup Restaurant, Aubuchon Hardware, Thomas' Country Store and most recent and favorite job was caring for her grandchildren during the day. Cindy enjoyed camping, long walks with her friends, gardening, watching birds and most importantly spending time with her five grandchildren.
Left to cherish the memory of Cindy is her husband of 44 years, Robert T. Thomas; children, Nicole Atkins (fiancee, James Trombley) of Au Sable Forks, N.Y., and Robert W. Thomas (Stacy) of Clintonville, N.Y.; grandchildren, Tyler Atkins, Luke Trombley, Leeanna Trombley, Kaleigh Thomas and Kenzie Thomas; brother, Rickie Ano (Janet); sisters, Raye French (Rick) and Barb Meyer (Jeff); brothers-in-law, John Thomas (Jane), and Matt Thomas; sisters-in-law, Julia Hildreth (Kim), Shirley Snow (Kevin) and Cheryl Thomas; as well as, many special nieces and nephews and long time friends. She also leaves behind her favorite companion Oscar, her pup.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Jane Thomas; brothers-in-law, Thomas Thomas and Wally (Buddy) Thomas; and a nephew, Ricky Ano.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Name, Au Sable Forks with the Rev. Kris C. Lauzon, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. All are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at the American Legion Post 504, Au Sable Forks, following the burial.
A special thanks to High Peaks Hospice for the care and professionalism given in Cindy's last few weeks.
