Carolyn's Story

Carolyn B. Morris, 80, of LaBarre Street, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was born in Ticonderoga, N.Y. on Nov. 28, 1936, the daughter of Elmer G. and Gertrude M. (Petty) Smith.
Carolyn attended Plattsburgh State Teachers College and graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Education.
She met the love of her life, James Morris, and they were married on August 24, 1958 in Ticonderoga.
Together, they traveled throughout the world as a military family and eventually settled back here in Plattsburgh. During this time, Carolyn worked as a Parent Aide and was also a substitute teacher at several schools throughout the U.S.
Carolyn was an active member of the Saranac United Methodist Church where she served as a Lay Leader and was very involved with the Saranac United Methodist Women. She also had a beautiful singing voice that she shared as a member of the choir, and as a teenager, was honored to sing the National Anthem on occasion at Fort Ticonderoga.
Carolyn loved reading books, doing crossword puzzles, and was an avid Yankees Fan. Above all else, she was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, James Morris of Plattsburgh; three children, Jeffrey (Wanda) Morris of Topsham, Maine, Timothy (Starr) Morris of Morrisonville, and Deborah Morris of East Syracuse, N.Y.; six grandchildren, TJ, Dustin, Jimmy, Paul, Kim, Lexi; and one great-grandson, Kai.
Carolyn's family will receive guests on Saturday, Oct. 7th from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Saranac United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Saranac United Methodist Church or to the St. John Feral Cat Fund.
