Bridget J. Chauvin, 91, of Willsboro Champlain Valley Senior Community and formerly of Morrisonville, died on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at UVM CVPH Medical Center. She was born July 31, 1926 in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the daughter of Paul and Margherita (Monaco) DeFonzo.
Bridget worked as the Mail Clerk and Secretary to the Town of Plattsburgh Supervisor and the Budget Officer, retiring from her position after many years. Bridget married Bernard Chauvin, June 9, 1951 in St. John's Church. She was a devout catholic and member of St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville; serving as Eucharistic Minister, a Lecture, a member of the Parish Council, and the Altar Rosary Society. Bridget volunteered as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and as a Den Mother to the Boy Scouts. She enjoyed spending her free time completing crossword puzzles or knitting. While at the Willsboro Senior Community, Bridget was the ambassador, showing new guest the community and making them feel welcome.
Bridget is predeceased by her parents; her brother, Anthony DeFonzo; her husband, Bernard Chauvin; her son, Martin; her daughter, Irene Marie; her son-in-law, Douglas Osier; and her great-grandson; her in-laws, James and Irene Chauvin; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Mary, Donald, James Jr., William, Gerald, and Irene.
She is survived by her children, Nancy McNally and her husband Michael, and Patricia Chauvin-Osier; her grandchildren, Sean (Jen), Sarah (Joe), Dan (Ashley), Becky (Chris), Charissa (Matt), Emily (Brian); her great-grandchildren, Patrick, Lily, Ella, Baby H, Parker, and Benjamin; her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Chauvin; her brother, Guy DeFonzo and his wife Marie; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Alexander's Church. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center.
