Barbara's Story

Barbara May Sussdorff, 89, formerly of Route 373, Port Kent, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on Trout Pond, Sept. 30, 1927, the daughter of Frank and May (Kerr) Rumney. Barbara was a high school graduate and lifelong homemaker. She married William H. Sussdorff III, March 19, 1948, in Keeseville. He predeceased her Aug. 24, 2008.
She was a loving wife and mother and devoted her life to caring for her family and making the family home a special place. She was old fashioned in her way of living and raising her family. She enjoyed gardening, antiquing, collecting dishes, quilts and dolls, painting, cooking and travel.
Left to cherish the memory of Barbara are, three sons and one daughter-in-law, Jay Sussdorff of Plattsburgh, Scott Sussdorff of Palenville, and William and Carol Ann Sussdorff of Diamond Point; one daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Millard Rock of Port Kent; grandchildren, Christopher Sussdorff, Amy Sussdorff, John Sussdorff, William Sussdorff, Michael Sussdorff, Jared Rock, Jesse Rock, and Luke Sussdorff; three great-grandchildren, Annie, Erik, Zoey Rock; sister, Mary Clark of Lake Placid; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and Richard Rumney.
Relatives and friends may call from from 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, September 13, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at noon in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the AuSable Chasm Cemetery.
