Arthur E. Baltruweit, 90, formerly of Allen Road, Plattsburgh, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at the Champlain Valley Senior Community in Willsboro, N.Y.
He was born in Clifford, Ontario, on Sept. 27, 1927, the son of Wilhelm and Anna (Bubel) Baltruweit.
Arthur entered the United States Army in 1947 and was honorably discharged in 1953.
He married Marianne Hauser in New York City, in 1957. Marianne passed away on Aug. 29, 2008.
Arthur worked for several years for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles as a License Inspector. He retired on July 5, 1990, after 29 years of service.
Survivors include his close friend, William Van Stockum of Plattsburgh; niece, Lynn Baltruweit; and numerous friends.
Mr. Baltruweit was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Plattsburgh and served as Head Usher for numerous years.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Erust Baltruweit, Otto Baltruweit, and Rudolph Baltruweit; and two sisters, Joanna Baltruweit and Charlotte Baltruweit.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Chazy.
