Anthony "Tony" Kowalowski, 73, of Cliff Haven, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 17, 1944, the son of John and Anna (Urban) Kowalowski.
Tony worked as a Correctional Officer for 38 years until his retirement in 2006. He was a down to earth man who loved and appreciated the outdoors. Hunting, fishing on Chazy Lake, camping at Ausable Point and sharing stories with friends over a few "cold ones" were some of his favorite past times. Tony always brought his money bag to family gatherings in anticipation of some poker game winnings. Baseball was a big part of Tony's life. A past player and huge fan of the Lyon Mountain Miners, he also was an avid Yankee fan but mostly just enjoyed a good game of ball.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Linda D. Kowalowski; children, Nancy (John) Hoyt, Laura DuBray, Michael (Jen) Kowalowski and Jillian Kowalowski; grandchildren, Erin and Andrea Hoyt, Brandon and Madison DuBray and Kenadie and Khloe Kowalowski; siblings, Jim (Linda) Kowalowski, Charlie (Sandy) Kowalowski, Theresa (Matt) Lasky and Peter (Laurie) Kowalowski; and several nieces and nephews.
Tony was predeceased by his parents; brother, Tom Kowalowski; sister-in-law, Donna Kowalowski; brother-in-law, Richard "Red" Scott; son-in-law, Steve DuBray; and father and mother-in-law, Steve and Nina Babij.
Everywhere Tony went he knew someone. He lived life to the fullest. He will be missed by his family and all of those lucky enough to call him a friend.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 from 3 to 6 pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 6 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at a later date in St. Bernard's Cemetery in Lyon Mountain.
Donations in memory of Tony may be made to Hospice of the North Country or Elmore SPCA.
